Karen Scott is an active member of many community groups including 4-H, Boy Scouts, Community Fair Association and Horse Heritage. She has always loved horses and took classes in saddle making and leatherwork. Karen became an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning in 2018. Her intention is to focus on how horses can help improve literacy and overcome learning challenges for school age children. Karen is a grandma many times over! She is very creative and enjoys papercrafts and cardmaking.
Horse Heritage Educational Program
Ashley Karsh has loved horses for as long as she can remember. She participated in 4-H with a focus on the knowledge side and represented Washington State at the National Conference! Ashley has been a part of the Horse Heritage team since it's bebinning and became a PATH Intl registered therapeutic riding instructor. She also has her certification as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning. Ashley attended Eastern Washington University where she majored in biology before pursuing a masters in education. At this time Ashley is a middle school teacher. Ashley has a great appreciation for the outdoors and is an avid photographer.
Elissa Wellhausen spent her adolescent years in 4-H and Pony Club. She showed horses primarily in local 4-H shows and area fairs, competing in equitation and jumping, although she also became enthusiastic about dressage. In 1999, she graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science. Elissa then started a family, became a 4-H leader of the Singing Spurs, and the Horse Department Supervisor of the Valley Fair. She underwent the rigorous training to become a PATHI registered therapeutic riding instructor. She has been teaching about horses for the last 15 years, and became a registered Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International ( PATHI ) instructor in 2011. PATHI is an organization that monitors the safety, skills and professionalism of it's members to ensure that clients are provided an adequate standard of instruction. Along with horses, Elissa likes to be active outside in the yard or working on the house. She loves spending time with her family, swimming, and camping.
